Its New York Fashion Week, but all the buzz is about the second Sex and the City movie being filmed there right now. The silver screen has always had an impact on fashion, but recently it seems costume designers are dominating the trends.

Let’s start with vampires. Blood-red lips and gothic black attire has been inspired by the two hits True Blood and The Vampire Diaries. Think of Essie nail polish launching the “matte” line. All the leather and lace combinations? Definitely vampire.

Gossip Girls costume designer Eric Daman has transformed that show into an ongoing catwalk. For the upcoming season, pictures are leaking out of his Gossip Girls in 20s inspired flapper looks. Does anyone not think this will translate to a flapper trend?

And now for the Grand Dame of silver screen fashion – Patricia Field. Yes, every designer wanted their items in The Devil Wears Prada, but the second Sex and the City movie is taping now in NYC and its press is outshining Fashion Week. Everyone is trying to get a glimpse of what Ms. Field will come up with for Carrie (and the other gals). So far we are seeing a lot of pictures of Louboutins, metallic to be exact. And they are being paired with just about anything.

For me, I love the creativity that the costume designers display. And I am ready to be excited for fashion again. Stay tuned.
