One of the “IT” accessories right now is the headband with adornments – sequins, feathers, bows, whatever. I’ve read articles about the resurgence of headbands ala the Gossip Girls, how the headband saves you from a bad hair day and how it dresses up an outfit easily. But I’m not buying it. I think the real reason that headbands are popular is that they allow us to try a new trend for low risk.
Headbands are generally inexpensive. You can usually find them for under $50. So you can try out a new trend you may be hesitant about without spending a lot of money. The one that I’m thinking about right now is the feather-accent trend. The January Bazaar issue just arrived and Kate Hudson is on the cover looking adorable in a feather-accented dress. She looks cute, I would look like Big Bird. But I may try feathered accents in a headband. This way if the look isn’t for me, it’s not much money spent.
The best selection of adorned headbands that I have found online is at Andrea’s Beau. There is something there for every budget and every taste – from subtle to sassy. My favorite is the gold Laurel Jacquard Double Headband. Next time I’m feeling more adventurous, I’m going with the Feathered Headband.
Headbands are another accessory to give a pop to your outfit. So wear your headband and turn some heads for all the right reasons.
